Error Cause HTTP Error 403.14 – Forbidden

HTTP error 403.14 – Forbidden error comes ,when you install any server application like IIS 7 or XAMPP on windows and try to run localhost ,then this error comes sometime . This error is due to mis configuration of the web server .

When you install web server a default port number is set by the web server . It is may be 80 . So in many cases default port number is 80 . In that case HTTP error comes because server’s port number is not matched with application port number .

One other reason is server port is busy of occupied by any other application . In this condition when you try to run server ,HTTP error 403.14 comes .

Solution : Change Port 80 to Port 8080

Before do any changes go to your web browser and type http://localhost in your web browser and press enter . If the error shown . Then see the error page carefully .

In the detailed error information section , look at the coloum name requested url . In the value you will find the current port number witch is used . In my case url value is http://localhost:80 . It means currently using port number is 80 .

Solution

First solution of HTTP error 403.14 is , If you installed more that one server than uninstall all server and take only one . Suppose you installed XAMPP and IIS 7 on same pc then this may cause errors . So uninstall one of them .

Change Port Number In IIS 7

If you are using IIS 7 and want to change port . Then go to start menu and after that go to Internet information service IIS manager . Click on default website in left pain .

After that click on Bindings . In the site buildings click on port number to select the port number . Click on Edit . Change the port number to 80 to 8080 .

If you installed XAMPP server and HTTP error comes . Then change the port no . To change the port number click on XAMPP control from start menu .

 

On the control panel window click on config tab . Then in new window click on services and port settings . Change the desired port and click save to change settings .

Restart your web browser . Type http://localhost:8080 in your web browser’s url field and click enter . XAMPP default page is open in the browser .
