How To Remove Previous Windows Installation Folder Windows.old

Windows.old is an previous windows installation folder . It is an system file folder and user have administrative permissions to delete it. By removing this folder user can increase the space of the window drive .

But when user try to delete this folder ,an error comes . “You require permission from system to make changes in this folder.” This is an administrative permissions issue .

Follow these simple steps to remove it .

Solution for windows xp, 7

Click on start Button on Windows . After that type My Computer .Click on My Computer  . Then follow the steps

Solution for window 8 And 10

In Windows search box type “this pc” and click on this pc desktop app . Then follow the steps .

Step 1

Go to your windows installation drive such as drive c: . Suppose if windows installed in drive C then right click on Drive C . Click on properties of drive C .

Step 2

A new window will open .Find general tab in the window .Click on Disk CleanUp . Wait for while when next window opens .

Step 3

In next pop up window ,select “Clean up system files” button in lower left on new window . Now Wait for while when pc complete the calculate the files . Select “Previous windows installations” in “Files to delete” window.

Step 4

Previous window installation files are Windows.old folder . So Select it by check the check box . Click “OK” button to confirm delete.

With this way Windows.old folder is removed from your computer . And large amount of hard disk memory will be freed .

Note: After delete window.old folder you are unable to use previous installed versions of windows .
