Method to check Trusted Platform Module is installed

Trusted Platform Module is a hardware based security technology . TPM technology designed for provide hardware based security feature .

TPM chip is installed on motherboard . All of cryptographic features are only used such as Drive encryption in windows ,if the Trusted platform module chip is installed in the hardware . So before use cryptographic features in windows , check that TPM is installed in hardware on not . To check the TPM module follow these steps .

Method 1

TMP is located in device manager

Click on Win+R key from keyboard to start run.exe . Type devmgmt.msc in the field and press ok button . It will open device manager . In the device manager locate the option “Security devices” in the list .

Click on it to expand it . Locate the Trusted Platform module .If the TPM chip is installed in hardware then it should be listed in it. If the security devices option not found in the device manager , It means TPM is not installed in your motherboard.

Method 2

TPM management console

Click on Win+R key from keyboard to start run.exe . Type tpm.msc in the field and press ok button . Trusted platform module console will open .If TPM chip is installed in the hardware it will be displayed in the list. But if the massage displays as the upper image , “Compatible TPM can’t be found” , it means it is not installed on your hardware .

If the chip is not installed then you can’t use hardware based security features such as Bitlocker encryption .
